The site team’s major role was to construct two massive concrete underpasses, each 650 m long, 50 m wide and up to 15 m deep. Both underpasses have been fully built, and each underpass was built using 260,000 m³ of concrete and 20,000 t of reinforcement, on top of which 80,000 t of asphalt was laid. Apart from the underpasses, the team also completed three cable tunnels, reaching a total length of 1.1 km. They also built three critical substations and pulled all LV/MV cables required to power the street lighting. The road now offers dedicated pedestrian walkways and cycle paths to foster a healthy lifestyle for the people of Qatar and further reduce traffic congestion.
