Mazagan Golf and Resort

A new beach resort

Since 2009, holiday travelers seeking luxury, calm and relaxation can find, 100 km south of Casablanca, a 5-star hotel with 500 rooms and suites, along a 7 km beach. This turnkey project was developed and built by BESIX-SOMAGEC.

5-star Kasbah

500 rooms, 8 restaurants and bars, swimming pools, ballroom, disco, and the largest casino in Morocco: in 2009 BESIX and SOMAGEC delivered this sumptuous ensemble, on a turnkey basis, including Golf Club House and thalasso center. Its traditional Moroccan architecture evokes the look of ancient villages. Up to 8,000 workers were present at the site at any one time.

The tight deadline was respected thanks to the experience, know-how and dedication of the entire Belgian-Moroccan team!

Under the concrete, sand

The first stage of the project consisted of consolidating the sandy soil. For this, the BESIX Group Engineering Department developed a specific vibro-compaction technique, thereby avoiding the difficulties linked to the concrete piling initially specified by the customer. With the help of the BESIX design office, the initial resistance of the structure was also adapted during the project to make it more earthquake-resistant.

A project under the sign of water

BESIX and its partner were also responsible for developing 250 hectares of dunes and forests, providing a lush nature setting for the hotel. Water is everywhere with many pools, lagoons and fountains, linked to a waste water treatment and recycling station designed and installed by BESIX Sanotec. The BESIX-SOMAGEC partnership also built the access roads and all the utilities of the hotel complex.
