Dubai Uptown Tower

A world-class building
For Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC), Six Construct designs and builds the 340-metre high Uptown Tower in Dubai. Designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture, this 81-storey building will be the first super-tall tower in Dubai's Uptown district. Offering a breath-taking view of Dubai's waterfront and iconic skyline, it will meet the highest environmental standards for high-rise buildings. Construction began in 2019 and will be completed in 2022.

Expertise & Environment

The design and construction of the structure and facade of the Uptown Tower is carried out by Six Construct alone, with all other trades enhanced by Besix Design's expert teams. The company can rely on the expertise of its in-house design office, as well as on the extensive experience of its operations teams in the field of skyscrapers. Six Construct and its parent company, BESIX, have been involved in the construction of numerous high rise buildings in recent years, in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Australia. These comprise the 828-metre Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

The contract to design and build the Uptown Tower was awarded to Six Construct by DMCC, the world’s No.1 Free Zone. In line with DMCC’s sustainability efforts, the Uptown Tower aims to achieve a LEED Gold certification ("Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design"). BESIX and Six Construct have demonstrated in the past their ability to meet the highest requirements in this field. For example, the Carpe Diem tower in Paris has set new standards in the field of ecological design with triple environmental certification, a first in Europe.

Construction 4.0

From the outset of the works, the project teams integrated state-of-the-art digital solutions into their working methods, using new technologies such as the Internet of Things. Developed by start-up partners from around the world, these have contributed to optimise the efficiency, organisation and safety of the construction site.

Digital platforms include technologies focusing on supply chain efficiency (ProperGate) and real-time monitoring of work progress (Sablono). The solution developed by WakeCap, whose primary objective is to improve the human organisation of the construction site, also made it possible to take efficient measures to organise the works safely during the coronavirus crisis.
