Constructing a tunnel according to the Polder technique
For the Koningstunnel in the Netherlands, BESIX constructed a road tunnel consisting of 2 tubes of 710 m long and a branch of 35 m long. The tunnel has 1 to 4 lanes and is 5,5m to 14,5 m wide. It has been designed according to the Polder technique, namely a reinforced concrete structure with floor between the remaining steel sheet piles with final water-proofed filling.
