State guests set foot on Abu Dhabi soil in a very special setting: their own terminal. It has 10,000m² of reception, gala, conference and press rooms on the ground floor, as well as two gardens, two presidential suites and two Majilis – spaces set aside for specific official ceremonies. A second floor measuring 10,000m² houses all the specific airport infrastructure these VVIPs need: a telescopic boarding bridge, baggage handling system and more.
A further 10,000m² is given over to parking, with landscaped areas measuring some 35,000m², an aircraft parking area, access ramp and heliport, electricity substation and security infrastructure. Six Construct employed 52,000m³ of reinforced concrete throughout the terminal, plus 23,000m² of marble, and other high-quality materials: 1,400m² of wall fabrics, 1,200m² of decorative panelling and six hand-crafted monumental doors.
These highly exceptional finishes were achieved in record time: Six Construct built and finished the terminal to a very high standard in just 11 months. The roof was prefabricated and installed in a single lift, and the marble brought in by air freight.
