Project overview
As cargo traffic increased and airport infrastructure expanded, BESIX was entrusted with the extension of the Dubai Cargo Terminal between 1990 and 1991. The project formed part of a broader effort to enhance the airport’s cargo capabilities and support its strategic development. Delivered within a demanding logistics environment, the scheme required the coordination of large-scale facilities, complex systems and carefully planned construction activities on an operational site.
Scope of works
BESIX adopted an integrated approach to deliver a comprehensive logistics complex designed to ensure operational efficiency and functional coherence. The project included the construction of a 27,000 m² cargo storage facility, administrative and technical buildings, as well as associated road infrastructure, loading areas and supporting installations. By integrating buildings, technical systems and external works into a single development, BESIX created a complete and highly functional logistics platform capable of supporting long-term cargo operations.
